The Champion on Wesak Night
Suppose to share this some time ago...
I was not there that night but my colleagues were. This year their land float got No.1 again, as impressive as last year's.

Look at the three cartoons statue of different races, and the small monk in front, aren't they cute? This year their theme is "Respect to the Human Right & Be Understanding". Other floats either make use of the real statues from the temple, or get the small kids dressed in different ethnics costumes n sit in their fancy decorated floats.

I'm never a spectator or participant of the Wesak procession, cos i dislike crowd. but i should change my view n perhaps next year would join my colleagues in such a memorable event to the Buddhists.
In case anyone is still blur to the meaning of Wesak Day for the Buddhists, here are a short definition from travour.com.
Wesak Day is the most important festivals of the Buddhists in Malaysia and fall in the month of May. It is celebrated to commemorate the birth, enlightenment and death of Lord Buddha because according to Buddhists, all the three events took place on the same lunar date. The celebration for the Wesak day begins much before the dawn when the Buddhists gather in Buddhist temples for worship all over Malaysia. The celebration is done with prayers, chants, offerings and giving alms. The Buddhist eat a vegetarian diet prior to the festival in order to cleanse and purify themselves. Doves and tortoises are released on the Wesak Day as a symbolic gesture of releasing the soul and giving up the past sins. Free meals are also given to the needy on the Wesak Day.
