Kampung Nelayan Restaurant

Actualy we thought of going to Ocean Restaurant, but we change our mind after consulting a staff in the hotel. i found it boring staying in the hotel room so i have some chat with a friendly bell person at the hotel entrance. going to Ocean Restaurant is nothing much different from Port View, should go a little further and experience the more different ambience in the floating restaurant. so there we went for dinner on the 2nd night, Kampung Nelayan Floating Seafood Market Restaurant. it sounds like at least half an hour away from town. but it took us only about 15mins.

we have to do a little exercise climbing up the staircase before the floating restaurant stood in front of us.

it was a building with local traditional architecture.

wide selection of fresh seafood in the tanks. they even have the shopping trolleys for you!

we arrived the place really early. 6pm i think. so we are their early customers.

they have a stage for cultural dance performance at night. it starts at 7.45... we couldn't wait till that time coz it was only about 7.15 when we finished our dinner. cos the food served was quite fast n we have to leave before the rain pour heavily. was raining that time.

on the other side, they have this Beijing Buffet BBQ Steamboat... i have no idea why it is named Beijing. imagine if the Beijing tourists come all the way here and try steamboat from their hometown.. hehe.

ok let's see wat we have that nite.

Sabah vege in garlic sauce. we also call it 'Cui Xing Miao' in mandarin here. the common way of serving it is quite similar to our local midin fern. either have it cooked with belacan (shrimp paste), hei bi (dried shrimp), garlic/oyster sauce.

the salted 'Lai Niao Ha'... geeee look at the roe! my mum's favourite dish that nite.

crab in 'Kam Hiong' style. taste good but more to my sis's favourite. a bit salty and i'm lazy to work on the shell. i'm taking the crab with my chopsticks, not my fingers. ;)

now this is my best favourite! cheese baked oyster.. not becos of the oyster, it's becos of the Cheezzzzzzes....... such a pity they dun appreciate much of the dish. out of the 6 oysters, i finish 3 all alone. ;)

Coconut pudding for the dessert. sth we must try there... it was great! can be served up to 8 bowls. i finished 4 bowls. i know i'm a big eater, but what to do, i can't afford to see great food wasted. sigh... they always torture me this way. :)

so the total cost of the dinner is around RM210... only, compared to the one we had in Port View.

after dinner, i went around for few more pics of the restaurants. it was night time already compared to the earlier pics taken before the day get dark.

and i manage to snap their menu posters on the wall. dish pics are not sharp but dish names still can be read. click on the pics below for larger view.

ya.. u're right.. i mistaken the sabah midin with 'cui xing miao'. nelayan restaurant has some unique dishes hor.. spicy assorted fish bladder, butter baked scallops, fried fish with sliced apple.. hey.. maybe u can put that in your menu.
the coconut pudding looks lovely.. is the texture a bit like tau hu hua?

wil, actualy i am not keen to see the performance lah, juz keen to take a picture of their dance, to contribute here mar. ;)

fish, seldom order any oyster in the restaurant (except O-jien). so.. grill osyter, nope never try. nice? wil try it next time if there's a chance. thought many ppl prefer it raw.. with the lemon juice..

jann, ya some r unique dishes from their poster menu on the wall. but my family din take our order from there. juz simply ask a captain to take order at our table. ya the coconut pudding's texture is similar as tauhuhua.
